Are you looking for fun, family activities along the Paint Creek Trail? You've come to the right place! The Paint Creek Trailways Commission organizes two events each year. The Paint Creek Crawl is scheduled in May of each year, as a way for us to celebrate National Trails Day. In September, we offer a "Labor Day Virtual Bridge Walk" event to coincide with the Governor's Walk and Run across the Mackinac Bridge. The Walk becomes more popular each year! Additionally, we will post other events that have been approved on the Trail, such as walkathons, marathons, or cycling events. If you would like to hold your event on the trail, please visit our Policies page for information and an application.

Thank you to everyone who attended this year's Paint Creek Crawl! Congratulations to Mary Lou Joseph of Oakland Township, who won the $500 gift card to Rochester Bike Shop!
We've posted photos of the event. If you would like to download them, you will need to have a Shutterfly account - it's free! Just hover over the photo, and a button to download will pop up for you.

We are still tallying the amount raised from the event, but we estimate that it will be approximately $2,000 !
Thank you again!
Frequently Asked Questions about the Paint Creek Crawl
1. What is the Crawl?
The Paint Creek Crawl is a cycling event encompassing the entire trail and business districts from Rochester to Lake Orion. Cyclists will receive a "passport" with names and maps of various businesses. Each cyclist will visit the particular business and receive an ink stamp in their passport, proving they were there. When all stamps are obtained, participants will meet at the Rochester Mills for prize drawings. If your ticket is pulled for a prize, you need to show your completed passport to receive your prize.
2. Do I have to wear a helmet?
Yes
3. Can I attach a child's carrier to my bike and take them with me?
Yes. However, the event is designed for people 16 and older, due to the length of the ride. We do not recommend children younger than 16 participate.
4. What is the money raised used for?
The money raised will fund trail improvements such as drinking fountains, bike fix-it stations, restrooms, interpretive displays, etc. Last year, the Friends were able to purchase their first amenity for the trail - a bike fix-it station located at the Paint Creek Cider Mill.
5. What is the goal of the event, besides fundraising?
We want to encourage everyone to use the trail as a non-motorized transportation corridor, and showcase how easy it is to visit our local businesses and restaurants. It's also a great way to incorporate exercise in every day activities!
6. Who is in charge of the event?
This is a Paint Creek Trailways Commission event. The event is organized, staffed and managed by the Friends of the Paint Creek Trail volunteers on our behalf.
